If the breaker or residual-current device trips when the washer runs, it's a sign of electrical leakage. Stop using it until it's checked.
Possible causes
- Leakage in the heating element (most common when heating starts)
- Water reaching electrical parts from an internal leak
- Damaged motor or wiring
- Failed EMI filter or power cord
- A problem in the home wiring or the breaker itself
Safe first checks you can do
Safety: unplug the appliance and close the water tap before any check, and never open the outer casing or electronic boards yourself.
- Note at which stage it trips (switch-on, heating or spin)
- Don't keep resetting the breaker
- Leave the washer unplugged until it's inspected

When do you need a technician?
Tripping is a safety issue and needs a technician to test each component's insulation one by one.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use cold programmes in the meantime?
We don't recommend it before inspection, as the leakage may not be the heater.
